★ CODEX OF THE FAMILIAR
What a familiar is,
what it isn't.
Read once. These are the rules every familiar is sealed under. They live on chain alongside the familiar's seed-hash and XP record. Nothing here changes mid-season.
01The Familiar
A Familiar is a soulbound pixel creature paired with a wallet-bound XP record. Each familiar has a single hidden seed and a hidden stat block, rolled at mint, immutable until it is destroyed.
F1.1At mint, the familiar's seed and stat block are committed (SHA-256) on chain. The same familiar that mints is the one that runs rites, evolves, and duels. No swaps, no migrations.
F1.2A familiar's tier, XP, and moveset are public. Its raw stat block is not. The seed-hash lets anyone verify the familiar has not been changed.
F1.3A familiar is soulbound to the wallet that minted it. It cannot be traded. Wins, losses, and tier are part of the wallet's permanent record.
02Tiers
A familiar evolves through five fixed tiers. Each tier has its own rite pool and its own Mirror Hall bracket.
| Tier | XP to next tier |
| Tier 1 · Egg | 500 XP |
| Tier 2 · Larva | 2,000 XP |
| Tier 3 · Spirit | 6,000 XP |
| Tier 4 · Adept | 18,000 XP |
| Tier 5 · Archon | permanent |
F2.1Tier-up is automatic at XP threshold. There is no ritual fee beyond the rite that pushed you over.
F2.2A familiar never devolves. Losses do not subtract XP. Tier is sticky.
F2.3Archon familiars unlock an open-bracket duel mode against any other archon. Below archon, you only duel within your tier.
03Rites
A Rite is a training ritual your familiar runs. Rites cost $FMLR, reward XP, and unlock moveset slots for future duels.
R3.1Rite cost scales with tier (see tokenomics). XP reward scales with rite difficulty, not familiar tier.
R3.2The daily sigil rite is free and gives small passive XP. One per wallet per day. No alt-stacking.
R3.3Every rite, including its parameters and the result roll, is logged on chain by rite-id. Anyone can read your familiar's record.
R3.4A rite the familiar fails gives reduced XP. Failures are part of the record.
04The Mirror Hall
The Mirror Hall is the 1v1 duel ring. Two familiars of the same tier are matched, three rounds of familiar vs familiar, stats and moveset and tactic choice decide each blow.
M4.1Each duel is opened with matched stakes in $FMLR. The pot is the sum of both stakes. Winner takes the pot, minus protocol rake.
M4.2A round resolves when both familiars have committed a move and the engine has rolled the outcome. Best of three wins the duel.
M4.3The duel engine is deterministic and fully on chain. Given a duel seed, any third party can reproduce the result move-by-move.
M4.4Duel records are public and permanent. Every move your familiar makes is part of its record.
05Covens
A Coven is a group of familiars that share a rite pool and split a small cut of every duel won by a member.
C5.1Joining a coven costs $FMLR (small fee). Leaving is free, with a 24-hour cooldown before joining a new one.
C5.2Covens split a 5% tribute on member duel wins. Distribution is on chain and weighted by member XP contribution.
C5.3Coven leaderboards rank by total member XP and total duel wins. The top coven at season end mints a public rune as a permanent badge.
06Sybil and abuse
No alt-stackingDaily sigils are one per wallet per day. Detected alt clusters lose the bonus and are excluded from leaderboards.
No self-duelFamiliars from wallets with shared funding history cannot duel each other for stake. The Mirror Hall enforces a wallet-distance check.
No engine tamperingThe duel engine runs on chain and the seed is committed before either familiar moves. Any off-chain "replay" of a duel that disagrees with the on-chain result is invalid by construction.
07What does not count as a win
- A round where one familiar failed to commit a move before the engine timeout.
- A duel where the engine errored and replayed the round (the replay rules).
- A duel between two familiars from the same wallet cluster.
- A "victory" claimed off-chain, in a quote tweet, or in a Discord screenshot.
Only a Mirror Hall record with an engine-signed round-by-round result counts toward XP and leaderboard.
08What we can and cannot change
Once a season opens, the tier thresholds, rite cost curve, duel-engine hash, and duel rules are frozen for the duration of that season.
Between seasons, the protocol can adjust rite pools, coven tribute, and the next-season engine. Any such change is published on chain before the next season opens. Governance opens post-mainnet.
09The promise
If your familiar wins a duel, the pot is in your wallet the next block. We do not curate winners. We do not negotiate with archons. The Mirror Hall either rolls for you or against you, and either way the record is yours forever.
